We believe that holidays are extremely precious and we will strive to make yours as enjoyable as possible
Meet Guy, Maria and their children Jake and Ella
Guy is a retired school teacher and Maria, was a paediatric nurse. Jake and Ella have now left home living in Beverley in Yorkshire and Manchester respectively.
In 2001 we moved to Alexandria, Egypt where Guy taught at the British School of Alexandria. We planned to stay for a few years but ended up living there for 12! During our time there we built 2 villas which we rented out for holiday lets, and it is this that gave us the taste for the tourist industry. We have always been keen campers and spent every summer touring around the UK in our campervan.
When it was time for us to return, we realised that running our own campsite would be the ideal way of life. We moved back to the UK in July 2013 to start our new venture. We had seen The Croft whilst we were still in Egypt, but it took another year for us to secure it, and a further couple of years to obtain planning. We have now been running the site for 10 years and The Croft fits the bill perfectly with its land, outbuildings, and location.
It is very important to us that we are environmentally sympathetic. In our time here we have planted over 5000 trees and hedgerow. We don’t use weed killers on our land. We’ve added solar panels to our house which feeds half the campsite. Latterly we have put in two electric car chargers. We have also consciously decided not to put in hard standing as we feel that this will be incongruous to our natural environment.
